About Me
1) The American Movies Conversational English strategy increases your understanding of fast-talking Americans in your workplace or academic environment. You’ve mastered the English language and you excel at work or academics, but it's sometimes a mystery what Americans are saying because they use so many idioms, slang, and swear words (are they joking or serious?).
Movies help you hear phrases used in everyday personal and professional life. Just recently I worked with an advanced student and the word used in the movie was “ginormous.” Even though it is in the dictionary, it is not considered an accurate/proper word to use in a business meeting. “Enormous” would be correct. It is because we studied the movie “Thor Ragnarok” that the student noticed this nuance between terms and their use. This is one small example.
* We will start by studying YouTube movie clips in one-hour sessions. The first lesson is designed to let you experience the process while learning (and practicing) numerous terms and phrases. We will study clips from the movie of your choice, "Iron Man” or “Avatar.”
* Using Zoom, you will see the video clip on the left and the corresponding movie script on the right. We will listen to the clip, then we will discuss the meaning and typical uses of specific phrases. You will practice speaking the phrases you want to learn. Then request a movie.

2) The Stock Market trading and technical charting terminology strategy increases your understanding and accurate use of trading terminology.
* We will start by discussing basic stock market vocabulary/terminology and discuss your current level and goals. We will view a recent 5-minute YouTube video from CNBC or Bloomberg and identify new vocabulary, then apply the lesson info.

* I've been teaching and coaching adults online for five years after a 20+ year business career in a high-tech firm. I’m also a stock-market investor who loves technical analysis including Japanese Candlesticks. I’ve also been a U.S. public school teacher, a solo entrepreneur, and a salesperson.
